You wonder for a moment whether you should call. Not because anything is wrong. You just want to know.
Then the notification arrives: Mom just tapped. 9:14 am. All good.
And you can get back to your day.
Bearhugme is an app for two. You both tap once a day, and you both see it.
One tap on a bear, once a day. That is all. No forms, no numbers, no health quiz. The bear is happy. And they see when you have tapped too.
The same app. You tap too, and you see whether Mom or Dad has tapped today. A time. A quiet status. One look, and you know.
There are emergency apps. There are care apps. There is WhatsApp.
This is the space in between.
Bearhugme is not there to intervene when something bad happens. It is there to send a small warm signal every day that everything is fine.
That changes the relationship. You no longer have to ask. You know.
No. If you are worried that nobody would help your parent in an emergency, you need a home emergency call system. Bearhugme does something different: it makes sure every normal day has a small sign.
Then you get a notification or an email the next morning: "How is Mom?" Mom gets an email too, saying that you were notified. Nothing happens behind her back. Mom picks the timing in her own app: the same evening, the next day (the default), after a few days, or never. What you do then is up to you. Usually a quick call is enough.
She needs to be able to press one single button. That is the whole app. No password, no menus. For many older people, that is simple enough.
Almost worldwide. Bearhugme is on the App Store and Google Play in almost every country, so it works even if you and your parents live in different ones. If it is not available in your country, let me know: [email protected].
English and German. In German, the app is known as Drück mich. Same app, same bear. Handy if your parents prefer German.
Nothing. Tapping, seeing whether someone tapped, and getting a heads-up if they didn't: that is free and stays free. For you and for Mom. The same goes for everything the app has today.
